Chinese mobile maker OnePlus earlier expressed its interest to enter into the affordable price segment of smartphones. Now, OnePlus confirmed it is working on a new mid-range OnePlus smartphone that will be launched in Europe and India.
“’ Never Settle’ has always been at the core of OnePlus. For more than 6 years, that has meant working hard to always deliver the best experience for flagship smartphone users. However, as we’ve grown together with our community, we know that there are many people who want a really solid smartphone that meets their everyday needs. And for a more accessible price,” OnePlus co-founder and CEO Pete Lau said in a blog post.
Pete further added that the OnePlus Company will launch a new mid-range OnePlus smartphone only in the Indian and European markets. Price details about the new affordable OnePlus smartphone have not been provided by the company.
“As we have always done when we try something new, we are going to start relatively small with this new product line by first introducing it in Europe and India. But don’t worry, we’re also looking to bring more affordable smartphones to North America in the near future as well,” Lau added.
At present, the company is at a neck to neck fight with Apple and Samsung in the premium smartphone range. Leaving a vacuum in the affordable range, where Samsung has many smartphone models.
India is considered to be one of the biggest smartphone markets in the world. However, medium-range smartphones capture the highest sales in the country forcing smartphone makers to release products in this range.
Company rules the Rs 30,000+ premium range in India by selling more phones than Apple and Samsung. The new entry of Oppo, Xiaomi, and Asus in the premium range ate into OnePlus’s sales in the recent quarters.
The OnePus Company didn’t confirm any series for the upcoming smartphone yet. But rumours suggest that the new OnePlus Z might be launched soon. The company launched an Instagram page with the user name “OnePlus Lite Z Things”. This could indicate a new launch on its way.
Rumours suggest that OnePlusZ could launch around July 10. After the Company launches its new affordable smart TVs on July 2. The new affordable OnePlus Smart TV is expected to be priced below Rs 20,000 the company confirmed.
In contrast to the hearsay, Lau said in a blog post, “Today, I’m very excited to announce that we are bringing the premium, flagship experience that you’ve come to expect from OnePlus to a new, more affordable smartphone product line”.
