To help people stay connected during the ongoing pandemic, Reliance Jio on Friday announced free 300 minutes of outgoing calls per month to JioPhone users who have not been able to recharge due to the coronavirus crisis in India. Apart from this, in order to further ease the recharge burden on Jio users, the company announced that JioPhone users who have recharged will get an additional recharge plan of the same value for free.

Reliance Jio is the first company to announce free talk time for its users in the second wave of the pandemic understanding the fact that various states have announced lockdown or have imposed restrictions to curb the virus.

The 300 minutes of free talk-time per month which equates to 10 minutes per day is being provided to JioPhone users to ensure connectivity and affordability to all customers, especially the less-privileged sections of the society.

However, it is important to note that users will not be able to make calls for more than 10 minutes in a day using the free minutes and also the benefit of the free talk-time will also be limited to the users who have not been able to recharge their phones during the pandemic.

In order to provide the accessibility of digital life to Indians, Jio has partnered with Reliance Foundation to provide JioPhone users this new facility during the current crisis.

Apart from this, the foundation has also launched a mission called “Anna Seva”, which is the largest meal distribution programme undertaken by a corporate foundation anywhere in the world.
