Amid the acute shortage of oxygen in the country and people suffering to cope with the pandemic, there is a ray of hope for COVID-19 patients in Bengaluru as can now get oxygen concentrators delivered at their doorsteps for free. Yes! Ola Foundation, the philanthropic arm of ride-hailing firm Ola, on Monday announced that it has partnered with online donation platform GiveIndia to provide consumers with oxygen concentrators for free through its own app.
The service has been launched by Ola in order to contribute towards relief efforts amid the deadly second wave of the COVID-19 pandemic. Ola announced that the service will start rolling out in Bengaluru from next week with an initial set of 500 oxygen concentrators. The company has also stated that it will not charge the consumers for the service and consumers can avail the aid at zero cost.
As per the statement, Ola and GiveIndia are soon to start the initiative across India with up to 10,000 concentrators in the coming weeks.
How can the service be availed?
Consumers can simply put out a request for an oxygen concentrator on the Ola app itself with few basic details. Once the request gets accepted, a trained Ola driver will bring an oxygen concentrator to the consumer’s doorstep.
Apart from this, once the COVID patient has gotten better and no longer requires the concentrator, Ola will pick the device back up from the consumer’s house and will return it to GiveIndia to get it ready for the next patient who needs it.
