With surging coronavirus cases in the national capital, emergency responders and ambulance operators in Delhi were finding it difficult to fulfil the demand. Therefore, in a bid to lessen the burden on ambulances already working at full capacity, 10 auto-ambulances were launched in Delhi to serve COVID-19 patients with mild symptoms requiring oxygen support.
These free-of-cost auto-ambulances were launched by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MP Sanjay Singh in association with TYCIA Foundation to support patients suffering from COVID-19.
The three-wheeler ambulances were launched with an objective to ensure that patients with mild COVID-19 symptoms and oxygen levels between 85 to 90 can reach the nearby hospitals in time.
Each auto-ambulance is equipped with an oxygen cylinder and a sanitiser. Apart from this, in order to maintain the safety of auto-drivers, PPE kits have been made available to all drivers of auto-ambulances.
Admiring the excellent initiative by auto-drivers and TYCIA Foundation to tackle this massive crisis, MP Sanjay Singh while launching this free ‘auto-ambulance’ service said, “I salute the organisation and auto drivers who have come forward to help in this hour of crisis. Delhi needs oxygen cylinder, oxygen plant and oxygen concentrator, whoever can help should come forward.”
Singh further said that this free auto service is helping people reach hospitals on time and by May 6, 20 more such autos will be pressed into service in order to help more and more people.
