At the WWDC 2020 Event, Apple unveiled its new mobile operating system iOS 14. The new operating system introduced new ways to customize the Home Screen for the first time since the launch of the iPhone in 2007. Redesigned widgets and a whole new way of using the app through App Clips iOS 14 is a breath of fresh air announced for Apple users in the WWDC 2020 Event.
New widgets are completely revamped and users can pin widgets on the home screen with different sizes. Creating a ‘Smart Stack’ on the home screen will help to surface the right widget based on location, time, and activity.
“iOS 14 transforms the most iconic elements of the Apple iPhone experience, starting with the biggest update we’ve ever made to the Home Screen,” said Craig Federighi, Apple’s senior Vice President of software engineering.
At the end of the home screen, a new space is created for App Library, which automatically organizes user apps into one simple space along with the search tab and intelligently surfaces needed apps.
“With beautifully redesigned widgets on the Home Screen, the App Library that automatically organizes all of your apps, and App Clips iOS 14 that are fast and easy to discover, Apple iPhone becomes even more powerful and easier to use,” Federighi added.
The App Clips is a small part of an app which is associated with particular products or business. Using App Clips, the user can load these apps quickly to access them when needed. ‘App Clip Code’ designed by the Apple team can be scanned to discover and access the apps. These apps are smaller in size and easily integrate with Apple pay.
Whole New Group Chats

Apple Translation App
The new app can now translate text and audio in 11 different languages, including English, French, and Mandarin announced in the WWDC 2020 Event. Real-time translation during two people’s conversation is also available now.
The all-new ‘Picture in Picture’ feature allows users to continue watching a video. Or take a FaceTime call while using other apps. Users can move the video screens around the screen or hide the video to continue listening to the audio.

Apple has laid special focus on privacy in the last few years. Users will now also be able to share approximate location with the app announced in the WWDC 2020 Event.
